The M16 is Macfox's youth-sized e-bike. 16" wheels, frame fits riders 3'11" and up, full Class 2 street legal, same UL 2849 certification as the rest of the lineup. Built specifically for younger riders who want a real e-bike — not a downsized commuter or a toy.
Macfox built the M16 from direct customer feedback — parents were asking for an e-bike that actually fit their kids, and the rest of the e-bike market was full of either toy-grade bikes or full-size frames that didn't work for shorter riders. The M16 was their answer. 16" x 4.0" fat tires, 28.7" seat height, 56" length — small enough to fit a 3'11" rider, capable enough to be a real bike.
500W motor peaks at 750W — same drivetrain as the X7 and X1S. 25-mile range on a single 499Wh battery, removable for easy charging. Mechanical disc brakes (front and rear) instead of the hydraulic units on the bigger Macfox bikes — simpler maintenance, easier for newer riders to bleed and service themselves. 5-6 hour charge time. Class 2 street legal, UL 2849 certified for the full system. This is a real bike, just sized for a real range of riders.
A proper e-bike at a frame size most brands ignore
Most "kids' e-bikes" are either toys with weak motors that disappoint quickly, or they're full-size bikes that kids can't actually control. The M16 fills the gap that's been missing from this category — a real e-bike (same motor, same UL certification, same build standards as the X7 and X1S), just scaled down to fit riders 3'11" and up. We carry the M16 because parents asking us "what should I get my 10-year-old" actually had no good answer before this bike existed.
Front and rear disc brakes
Mechanical disc brakes on both wheels. Different from the hydraulic units on the X7 and X1S — simpler design, easier maintenance, more forgiving for younger riders learning bike service. Stopping power is more than enough for a 20mph Class 2 bike at this frame size.
16" x 4.0" fat tires
Chunky 16" fat tires give the M16 the same all-terrain capability as the bigger Macfox bikes — pavement, dirt, light gravel, neighborhood riding. Smaller diameter than the 20" wheels on the rest of the lineup, which is what makes the bike fit shorter riders. Real grip in real conditions.
Sized for riders 3'11" and up
28.7" seat height, 56" total length — engineered for younger or smaller riders. Macfox built the M16 specifically because parents kept asking for an e-bike their kids could actually ride. Frame holds up to a 220 lb rider weight limit, so it grows with the rider over multiple years.
Removable battery, simple charging
The 48V 10.4Ah battery pulls out for charging — no need to bring the whole bike inside. Charge in 5-6 hours, slot it back in, go ride. Single battery configuration (no dual option on the M16), but the 25-mile range covers most neighborhood, school, and park trips with margin.
The M16 is for younger or smaller riders — specifically, anyone 3'11" or taller who wants a real e-bike that actually fits. If you're an adult rider 5'3" and up, the Macfox X1S is a better fit at the same Class 2 power level. If you want fat tires and more presence, the Macfox X7 is the upgrade. If you want full suspension and the most power Macfox makes, the Macfox X2 is the top of the lineup. And if your kid is asking for off-road dirt bike performance and old enough to handle it, look at the Rerode R1 — but understand that's a real dirt bike, not a Class 2 e-bike."
