Direct replacement for the OEM shock spring. Mounts on the existing Ultra Bee rear shock body — no shock replacement, no linkage modifications. Spring compressor required for installation; if you don't have one, we can install it for you in the shop. Select color at checkout.
The Ultra Bee's OEM rear shock spring is calibrated for an average rider weight — around 160-180 lb. For riders meaningfully heavier than that, or anyone riding aggressively (jumps, drops, hard cornering, technical off-road), the stock spring is undersprung. You'll feel it as the rear bottoming out on bigger hits, the bike sitting too low in its travel through corners, and the shock generally feeling overwhelmed.
The KKE 550 lb spring is rated for riders in the 190-210 lb range with a standard riding style. If you're at the upper end of that range and you ride hard, this is the right upgrade. If you're heavier than 210 lb, you may want a stiffer rate (we can help you source one). If you're 180 lb or lighter and ride conservatively, the stock spring may be fine — this would make the bike feel too harsh.
The spring is made from 55SiCr alloy steel — a high-carbon spring steel commonly used in motorcycle suspension. Stronger than the stock alloy, more consistent rate across the spring's working range, and resistant to the sag and rate loss that happens to OEM springs after a season of hard use. Available in Black or White anodized finish.
Installation requires a spring compressor and disassembly of the rear shock — it's an advanced job. If you don't have the tools or experience, we'd recommend having a shop install it (we offer this service if you're local). After installation, you'll need to reset your sag for the new spring rate — typically 30-35% of total travel.
