Description

78 Forged is the consumer brand of Fantastic 78 — a manufacturer with generations of motorcycle racing heritage. Phase I is their first e-bike, and they built it the way they'd build a real motorcycle. Full-body plastics, MX-tuned suspension, hydraulic disc brakes front and rear, real 14"/12" moto-sized wheels. This isn't a kids' toy with an electric motor bolted on — it's a real dirt bike, scaled and tuned for younger riders.

The 60V platform delivers 4.5kW peak power through an 80A vector controller, sent to the wheel via 11/53 gearing on a standard 420 chain. Three ride modes let the bike grow with the rider — Mode 1 caps at 25mph for first rides, Mode 2 opens up to 35mph as confidence builds, Mode 3 unlocks the full 45mph top speed when they're ready. Best-in-class throttle response and a predictable power curve make it manageable from the first twist. Range runs from 40 miles in Mode 1 down to 20 miles when riding hard in Mode 3.

120mm hydraulic fork up front, 65mm hydraulic shock in back — both tuned by actual racers. Hydraulic DOT brakes with 190mm discs front and rear, real motorcycle stopping power. Full moto-style seat with premium foam and tear-resistant fabric. 60V Samsung 21700 battery with IP67 waterproofing, same standard as the motor. Designed and assembled in California with up to a 3-year limited warranty. Intended for off-road use only — not street legal.

Why we carry it

A real moto-style dirt bike for the next generation of riders

Most kid-sized electric dirt bikes are either underbuilt — weak motors, cheap suspension, plastic parts that crack — or they're scaled-down toys with no real off-road capability. Phase I is neither. It's built by a motorcycle company that's been in the racing world for generations, with the actual engineering and component spec that implies. Real hydraulic suspension. Real hydraulic brakes. Real 4.5kW peak power. Real moto geometry. We carry it because when parents ask us "what's a real first dirt bike for my kid," this is the most honest answer we can give.

MX-tuned hydraulic suspension

MX-tuned hydraulic suspension

120mm hydraulic fork and 65mm hydraulic shock, tuned by real racers with beginners in mind. Stays predictable over small chatter and absorbs hard hits without bottoming out. This is real motorcycle suspension scaled for a youth rider — not the cheap springs found on most kids' bikes.

Hydraulic DOT brakes

Hydraulic DOT brakes, front and rear

190mm hydraulic disc brakes on both wheels. Real motorcycle stopping power and lever feel — not the cable-actuated mechanical discs typical at this price point. Teaches young riders proper brake control from day one. Built to handle the full 45mph top speed.

60V platform with three ride modes

Three modes that grow with the rider

4.5kW peak power, but governed by three selectable ride modes. Mode 1 caps at 25mph for first rides. Mode 2 opens to 35mph as confidence builds. Mode 3 unlocks the full 45mph when they're ready. Parents can dial in the right amount of power for the right stage of riding.

Full moto-style seat and ergonomics

Full moto seat and ergonomics

Premium foam seat with tear-resistant grip fabric, designed for real riding position changes. 28" seat height, 44.4" wheelbase, 11" of ground clearance. Riders can shift forward and back the way they'd ride a full-sized bike — building the habits that translate to bigger bikes later.

Is this the right bike for you?

The X7 is a great street-legal e-bike — but it is a street-legal e-bike. 20mph cap, fat tires for stability and presence, designed for commuting and recreational road riding. If you want off-road dirt bike performance, look at our Arctic Leopard XE Pro S or Rerode R1 — both are real dirt bikes, both are explicitly not street-legal, both will do things the X7 can't. If you want something smaller for a younger rider, the Macfox M16 starts at 3'11". If you want longer range and full suspension, the Macfox X2 is the upgrade. We carry the X7 because it's the right bike for the rider who wants street-legal without compromise on build quality.
